I’m Matthew Dayton, a technical operations and business systems professional focused on Microsoft 365 operations, internal tools, documentation, and AI automation.
My relationship with technology started early. I’ve been around computers for as long as I can remember, and I built my first computer when I was 13. That curiosity never really left. Over time, it grew into a broader interest in how systems work, how people use them, and how the right tools can make everyday work feel less frustrating.
I also come from a creative background. I’m a musician and songwriter, and that part of me has shaped the way I think. Writing music taught me how to build structure from emotion, how to listen closely, and how small details can change the way something feels. That same mindset shows up in how I approach technology: I care about whether systems are not just functional, but clear, intuitive, and useful for the people relying on them.
I’ve also played esports competitively, which taught me a different kind of discipline: fast decision-making, communication under pressure, pattern recognition, teamwork, and constant iteration. Competing at that level gave me an appreciation for preparation, focus, and the value of improving one small piece of a system at a time.
Professionally, I think of myself as an operator-builder. I support users and systems directly, but I also look for the patterns behind recurring issues: where information is scattered, where a workflow is unclear, where tools are creating friction, or where automation could make the work easier.
My experience includes Microsoft 365-centered operations, business systems support, vendor and license visibility, internal dashboard concepts, support workflow improvement, technical documentation, and AI-assisted workflows that turn messy information into structured, review-ready outputs.
At the core, I’m interested in building clearer systems. Whether I’m writing a song, troubleshooting a workflow, designing an internal tool, or experimenting with AI automation, I’m usually trying to do the same thing: understand the moving pieces, find the pattern, and make the final result easier for someone else to use.
